{"id":77,"date":"2018-12-07T13:18:08","date_gmt":"2018-12-07T13:18:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.brendaningle.com\/?page_id=77"},"modified":"2019-10-02T08:38:59","modified_gmt":"2019-10-02T08:38:59","slug":"ingle-boxing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.brendaninglefoundation.org.uk\/?page_id=77","title":{"rendered":"Ingle Boxing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">For over four decades Brendan Ingle MBE and the Ingle Gym have been\u00a0training, managing and guiding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Herol &#8216;Bomber&#8217; Graham, Ryan Rhodes, Johnny Nelson, Prince Naseem\u00a0Hamed, Junior Witter and Kell Brook are all synonymous with the gym\u00a0and all learnt their trade in the classic, raw and no-nonsense\u00a0surroundings of a converted church hall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Since 1964 iron girders have watched over, while holding rows of\u00a0heavybags for the fighters to train as the gym has forged champions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A rough, worn wooden floor; rattled and splintered with dust\u00a0collecting in nearby corners, but still showing lines and circles;\u00a0dictating how footwork taught in the gym should be maintained and\u00a0mastered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Two speedbags hinged on the walls and a ring standing alone at the end\u00a0of the hall, where it has been since the beginning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Medicine balls and iron bars used to anchor feet to sit up and\u00a0strengthen abdominals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Bars attached to the iron girders above the gym serve for pull ups,\u00a0while metal rings on the wall are hinged for holding drinks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">No set cardiovascular area; members skip, step up, run laps of the\u00a0hall or use Newman Road itself where the gym is based.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A changing room, a few old lockers, showers, toilets and the door in and out.\u00a0Radiators turned on in the winter and side doors opened in summer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">No air conditioning, treadmills or hand bikes but everything a fighter\u00a0needs and requires to train.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For over four decades Brendan Ingle MBE and the Ingle Gym have been\u00a0training, managing and guiding.
